Herrick "Ced" Forsyth - Bass

Ced has been playing professionally in the Denver area since 1980. The early 80’s saw Ced playing bass, keyboard bass and some backing vocals full time in a variety of rock and funk bands (yes, including a disco cover band!) throughout Colorado.

In 1982 Ced was asked to break out the tuba to anchor the Timbuktu Plus Five – a Dixieland ensemble representing the University of Colorado, Denver jazz program. This band went on to win the Southern Comfort National Dixieland Jazz Competition and spent that year touring the United States and Canada as “Ambassadors of Jazz.” Shows of note include spots on the Merv Griffin Show, The Today Show, television and radio spots in most cities visited by the band, as well as many concerts and clinics. During this time the band recorded two albums – one with Tommy Newsome of the Tonight Show Orchestra.

Ced was also busy with his classical tuba chops. He played tuba in the Colorado Brass Quintet that was selected as one of seven groups invited to play at the International Brass Quintet Festival in Baltimore, Maryland. He also played principal tuba with the Centennial Philharmonic Orchestra.

During Oktoberfest “season” he plays tuba full time with The Tanzkallepe (German Dance Band) throughout Colorado. He also played tuba and bass with the Pearl Street Band, the Hot Tomatoes, the Jelly Roll Stompers, the Queen City Jazz band, and Your Father's Mustache Band.

Currently Ced is also playing electric and upright bass with The Crossroads Worship band in Highlands Ranch.
